Solpuga is a creature that spits highly caustic lye (The Lady of the Lake). In reality, solpuga is a genus of arachnids from the order of solifugae, which might suggest that the solpuga from Andrzej Sapkowski's novels is an arachnid as well. This creature was said to be prowling some underground caverns which had been scouted out for use by the vineyards of Toussaint to store wine.
