Ornithosaur (Polish: Ornitoreptyl) is an order of creatures witch have traits of both birds and reptiles. According to Geralt, its only member is cockatrice.[1]

In the game, Ornithosaur is a hypernym used to refer to a number of four-limbed, winged, non-intelligent reptilians.
The word is a combination of Greek ornis, ornith- (bird) and sauros (lizard).

- In The Witcher computer game incorrectly sorts some draconids as ornithosaur species. It is later corrected in The World of the Witcher which separates ornithosaurs from draconids, listing them as hybrids.
