The region of Nilfgaard is the southernmost region of the Nilfgaardian Empire – an expansive realm that began its conquests from this land – and home to its capital. In contrast to views commonly held by Nordlings, the Empire's subjects consider the region's inhabitants to be "real" Nilfgaardians; humans of superior heritage – due to their elven ancestry – who speak a dialect derived from Elder Speech.
Nilfgaard lies south of the provinces Etolia and Gemmera. To its east is Vicovaro.
