Maecht was one of the kingdoms located south to the Amell mountains. To the north, it shares a natural border with kingdom of Metinna, the Sylte. Eastward lies Geso, another its neighbour is Ebbing.

The land was eventually conquered by the Nilfgaardian Empire in 1250s[1] and included as one of the imperial marches into the Province of Metinna. Some form of autonomy was kept by allowing Maechtians to choose their new king via election in 1258, but Codringher has supposed that the deciding factor was actually the Imperator's will.

Heraldry[ | ]

The original Polish edition of Time of Contempt contains only ambiguous description of the Kingdom's coat of arms, mentioning "silver fishes and crowns in shield divided quarterly blue and red". Hovewer, David French has decided to give Maecht a properly described emblem in his translation of the novel:

"Hmm ... Here it is. The Kingdom of Maecht. It's coat of arms presents quarterly, azure and gules, one and four two fishes argent, two and three a crown of the same-"

The artists from CD Projekt RED have created their own interpretation of the coat of arms as well, placing fishes in red and crowns in blue:
