At the beginning of Chapter II, Geralt finds himself prisoner in the Vizima jail in the Temple Quarter. Among his fellow prisoners is an elven convict who has been sentenced to death and is awaiting execution. Even facing imminent death, the convict offers to pass the time with Geralt playing dice poker, providing a chance for the witcher play a novice-level opponent.
Additionally, if for some reason Geralt was not introduced to the game during Chapter I, playing the elven convict launches the dice quest.
