Darn Rowan is a fortress in the duchy of Rowan in the hinterlands of Nilfgaard and is sometimes used to house political prisoners. The keep is situated over the river valley, on hills forested with evergreen yews which contrast with white limestone fault scarps; the castle itself has towers and pinnacles which shine in the light of the morning sun, looking as if they were ablaze. Emhyr considers the view as alluring and peaceful.[1]
In Time of Contempt, Imperator endowed "Cirilla" with the title of "Duchess of Rowan and Ymlac" and lady of the castle of Darn Rowan and sent her there.
