The Wicker hag is a sort of human-shaped wooden cage in which druids were said to burn intruders. In fact, they tended to fill the wicker constructions with hay for grazing animals. Tales of flaming wicker cages were, of course, just folklore but when the druids at Caed Myrkvid caught Schirrú and Homer Straggen, the Flaminika decided to make the lore into reality, as a cautionary tale against future intruders.

The idea of a wicker effigy used for human sacrifice is a historically documented druidic practice, see Wicker man.
