Welcome![]

I do hope you'll stick around — Game widow (talk) 21:13, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Me too :) »»Dove«« (talk) 09:59, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

How did you add this particular blog item ? the code i added automatically adds some necessary code which was deleted from your post, so i'm curious as to what you did that would cause this post not to behave as it should have. — Game widow (talk) 01:21, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

So, I didn't now, how to create new blog item. But Polish people have some adage: "can-do Poles!" (pl: "Polak potrafi!") - I created new page called "Blog:Wiki news/Capture the flag". That's all. — SMiki5five (talk) 08:52, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
aha :D ... usually it's done via {{Create News}}Game widow (talk) 13:06, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Potential new skin for Tw3[]

Hi there, are you interested in checking out the preliminary new skin for TW3 ? If so, i can edit your personal css file so that you see it when you are logged on to this wiki. No absolute final decision has been made, so i'm curious to get your opinion — Game widow (talk) 12:33, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

I would be honored, if I could see new skin :)
SMiki5five (talk) 14:44, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
OK, i've edited your personal css file. The proposed new main page layout is here. — Game widow (talk) 18:02, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
Wow, new skin is fantastic!! :D
But, one problem. When I use my tablet, width of articles is too small, like on old wikies. On PC everything is OK.
SMiki5five (talk) 19:45, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
I could update the mobile skin ... or see if there's anything that can be done specifically for tablets. — Game widow (talk) 19:51, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
I use Google Chrome for Android, with "computer mode". SMiki5five (talk) 19:55, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
I made the right margins about half the width for you, is that better, or would full width still be preferable ? — Game widow (talk) 19:51, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
I would like prefer full width, like on PC. In actuall settings I see only half of new mainpage :/
SMiki5five (talk) 21:02, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing ... here is what the new main page looks like on the PC. As you can see, there is a margin on the right. However, you can make that margin as large or as small as you like for yourself. I've updated your personal css on this wiki now to have no margin on the right. Is that what you wanted ? I'm starting to think that what you really mean is that you'd prefer a larger margin, but perhaps i'm wrong — Game widow (talk)
Now everything is ok. Thanks! ^^
Sorry for my English, sometimes nobody can understand me ;)
SMiki5five (talk) 15:45, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
Are you ready to implement the new skin on the Polish wiki ? If so, would you like the article area to be full width on that wiki ? And also, will you be converting the main page yourself, or would you like me to help out (bearing in mind of course that my Polish is much, MUCH worse than your english :D )? — Game widow (talk) 19:52, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
I'm ready ;)
IMHO you can implement skin, I'll convert main page tomorrow. About width - do what you think is right ;)
BTW, what do you think about my last changes in editcopy? Do you agree?
SMiki5five (talk) 20:00, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
I prefer to keep comics and other games on the Other adapations tab on the English wiki, but i think your version is very good for the Polish wiki. I didn't want to waste your efforts on the icons you made though, so i do have the comics and games icons in the corresponding categories. — Game widow (talk) 20:40, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Other games icons still will be in "Other adaptations", I want only create "Comics" section. New series is coming, so comics again have a chance to be important part of Witcher uniwerse :)
SMiki5five (talk) 21:03, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Icons[]

I like your icon, and I've added it to the new main page — Game widow (talk) 12:39, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! Today I will upload other icons for "Saga" section :)
SMiki5five (talk) 14:27, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
Wonderful! Thank-you :) — Game widow (talk) 15:28, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
You're welcome ;)

Lady of the Lake doc[]

I noticed you linked to an english translation of The Lady of the Lake, do you have one for The Swallow's Tower (Wieża Jaskółki) ? — Game widow (talk) 15:12, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Yep. Translations of unreleased novels you can find at this topic on TW Board :)
SMiki5five (talk) 16:37, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks a million! — Game widow (talk) 20:43, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
You're welcome :)
SMiki5five (talk) 16:50, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Beatrix, Heltmult and Denhard (re:Falka)[]

Can you let me know where you found that information, even if it's the Polish books? i can hunt it down in the french translations (or if it happens early enough in the saga, the english books ;) ) — Game widow (talk) 22:52, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

They aren't appearance in Saga - they are mentioned in genealogies writed by Andrzej Sapkowski at the end of previous century. Altrough genealogies disappeared from AS'website after server's change, most of them has been copied to archival pages, like archive.org.
I'll copy all of them into WORD file, after that maybe someone from forum could translate it into English :)
SMiki5five (talk) 05:37, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
OK thanks! — Game widow (talk) 11:47, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Pontar Delta prototype map[]

I don't really see the point of File:Tw3 Pontar Delta prototype map.jpg, it's too blurry to see anything on it, at any resolution — Game widow (talk) 12:23, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

As I know, it's only photoshopped from this photo. There is no better resolution :( SMiki5five (talk) 16:21, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
It's not that i don't believe you about there being no better version, my point is this: what use is it, given that you can't see anything on it? i think the image of the guy working on it is more useful — Game widow (talk) 20:26, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
I wanted to use it in Pontar Delta article. But if it is unuseful, I think that you could delete it :)
SMiki5five (talk) 15:23, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Updates to this wiki[]

Hi, I'm not sure if i ever mentioned to you that i am responsible for over 100 different wikis. That is why I can't do all the updating myself. — Game widow (talk) 19:41, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

Over one hundred! That's many, many, a lot O_O
Hmm, I'm going to upload some files at this weekend :)
SMiki5five (talk) 20:08, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

Skelligan Clans[]

Hi Smiki,
can you create a page for the Skelligan Clans (or one for each single clan?), so that we can add this info to the sevaral charakter infoboxes, i.e. Hjalmar, Crach, Eist etc.? I know, we have the most information only from this picture yet, but I want to be prepared, when there comes more to this subject in near future. Would you? ;)
»»Dove«« (talk) 12:15, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Ok, I could create article. Can I use info from "Gra Wyobraźni" and article about Scottish clans on Wikipedia?
SMiki5five (talk) 13:40, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. Please, use for infos from "Gra Wyobraźni" an own chapter; Wikipedia as well as "RL" infos you can put to "Trivia" chapter - as we do it in every article. In the In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt chapter you can put the common descriptions from the picture (see above). Always have in mind, that I want to use the descriptions/chapters to link to them via the infoboxes ("faction") - or do you have other plans with this faction entry for the clans?
»»Dove«« (talk) 15:28, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Some fixes I've added today. SMiki5five (talk) 06:03, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Good news on the images front![]

We will soon be implementing a "common image store" for all the Witcher wikis. What does this mean for you? You might ask. Basically, once the system is in place (date still to be determined, but soon!) images will only have to be uploaded once, on the English wiki and then will automatically be available on all the other language wikis. In preparation for this, if you know of any images which are only available on other language wikis, and not on the English wiki, please upload a version on the English wiki. Once the system is in place, you will still be able to upload images which are unique to a given language version on that wiki if you choose, but it will not be necessary. Also, if you do upload an image on one of the non-English wikis and give it the same name as an existing image on the English wiki, the "local" version will take precedence.

As soon as the implementation date is nailed down, I will let you know. Meanwhile, please try to make sure all images are available on the English wiki. There should be relatively few which are not already there. — Game widow (talk) 21:43, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

Good news :) - SMiki5five (talk) 14:58, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
The common image store is now live! You only have to upload images to the english wiki and they will automatically be available on all the language versions of the witcher wiki — Game widow (talk) 16:23, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
So, now it's no problem with updating images on all wikis :) Thanks!

Logos[]

Hehe I see you like the image logo in the infoboxes :P, neat trick right? I just can't seem to find nice png TW1 logo...
Peace, Ͽ †yræl pl Ͼ 19:12, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Indeed good idea, but I'm not sure, if i use proper size/resolution, hmm :|
Isn't logo which I have used nice? Seems good, but I use mobile version at the moment.
SMiki5five (talk) 19:34, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
Looks awesome to me. As for the rest they look good too. I'll look into them though to make sure they're fine.
Peace, Ͽ †yræl pl Ͼ 20:14, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
Correction, 289px seems to be optimal for images in the title part of the game infobox (at least based on tw1 infobox). From 290px upwards the image streches the rest slightly. Gotta say i really am not a fan for "em" units GW seems to love so much :P
Peace, Ͽ †yræl pl Ͼ 20:24, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
289? Ok, so I'll correct it today or tommorow :)
SMiki5five (talk) 22:27, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
Yes. 289 results in no scaling of the other table elements but 290+ does 1+ px stretching. I used Opera browser 'inspect element' option to come to this conclusion. It's nothing major but imho it's better to keep infoboxes not forcefully scaled to content elements. Well at least on 1920x1080 screen which I use :)
Peace, Ͽ †yræl pl Ͼ 22:51, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

New base skin for the wiki: Hydradark[]

You may have noticed a few relatively minor changes to the skin. That's because we've moved to "hydradark" as the underlying skin. Any css changes should not be added to Mediawiki:Hydradark.css. Please let me know if anything looks wrong, but this change should help with rare elements being stark white — Game widow (talk) 21:06, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

Infoboxes[]

I'm fine with the state infobox, but not 2 infoboxes on a page, so either add any missing fields to the state infobox or don't use it if the location infobox contains more information. — Game widow ( talk ) 13:47, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

Hmm.. Wikipedia also uses sometimes two infoboxes in one page (Vatican City for instance). Though they are not placed next to next to each other, but upright, perpendicularly... which I cannot do here :/ Erm. — SMiki5five (talk) 13:55, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
I prefer 1 infobox. Simply add the fields you want to your preferred infobox and you get the best of both worlds — Game widow ( talk ) 19:02, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

Timeline[]

Hi SMiki5five, this timeline is correct? --— Gwynbleidds (talk) 19:56, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

It is not, definitely. It was the first fanmade witcherland timeline ever - I'll say that it's probably the worst one :/ — SMiki5five (talk) 23:03, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. --— Gwynbleidds (talk) 07:43, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

Gustfields[]

I thought we decided Gustfields was a region. In which case, the changes you've made should be to the "region" field, rather than the "location" field — Game widow ( talk ) 20:25, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

Ok, thanks! :) — SMiki5five (talk) 22:35, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

CD Projekt´s Coat of Arms of Tussaintian duchy[]

Hi, guess what, as a heading suggest with latest (1.12) patch CD Projekt Red also did kind of teasing a preparing base-game for expansion. If you use certain mod (All Quest Objectives on Map by Wolfmark) it will show you icon of what will in future be Toussaint, missplaced but they will shurely fix it (theyre not that with Witchergeography to place Duchy of Toussaint in Southern Temeria :D :D) here you go for screenshot - https://scontent-mxp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/t31.0-8/12473964_809710195821813_2962743320184221425_o.jpg - I consider it interesting and want to ask you for creating that one :) With Regards --— Juraj103 (talk) 19:43, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

Mboro's is better :P Seriously speaking, I'm not sure if this is really Toussaint on this map. Maybe the new expansion could add some minor location in southern Temeria on the way to Toussaint? — SMiki5five (talk) 19:50, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
You mean something like base-game did with White Orchard before Vizima and Pontar ? Maybe its →speculations on← Mariborian main palace it self ! and that Coat of arms CD Projekts takeon Maribori symbol O.o →off← --— Juraj103 (talk) 19:57, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
I wouldn't be so optimistic :P Maybe it is some castle, maybe location for dlc. I'll check this mod in the weekend. — SMiki5five (talk) 20:06, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Well, someone must believe in somethin :D --— Juraj103 (talk) 20:26, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Marcin Momot confirmed this to be placeholder.SMiki5five (talk) 17:30, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Wiktionary is always helpful ;) — SMiki5five (talk) 18:36, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
Well thanks will use it next time as I now know that something like it exist but I am still not very wise from it, means that it is indeed Toussaint but they will place it further south and change coat or it is indeed some other location ? --— Juraj103 (talk) 18:40, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
As for the heraldry: this is coat of arms of Bielsko, part of Bielsko-Biała. — SMiki5five (talk) 19:46, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Huh they really launched a big polska-kultura-kurwa reference fire in Expansions / 3rd game :D What is only good, cause I, as quart-polish (my Fathers father and mother are from Lesko / Lescow and even our surname is still Leško) love Poland and even whole Wiedźmin / Witcher / Zaklínač is a grand masterpiece of Poland and Sapkowski :) To heraldry - will you do vector-inkscape version of Adam Kromers Toussaint emblem ? --— Juraj103 (talk) 20:36, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Toussaint COA was made by our former username nicknamed "Mboro", not Adam Kromer. Maybe during the weekend I could do vector version. Maybe. — SMiki5five (talk) 14:18, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
-_- -_- I know well who is Mboro, I was thinking of Green one from http://witcher.gamepedia.com/File:COA_Toussaint.png --— Juraj103 (talk) 16:14, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
Ok. But it isn't Kromer's work rather. Maybe someone who possesses Czech edition with these heraldry illustrations could check an author. — SMiki5five (talk) 17:07, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi SMiki5five, this Coat of Arms is known in novels? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CiRb2XLXAAAbXOB.jpg:large . --— Gwynbleidds (talk) 09:25, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

Mound Folk?[]

Really? In english a "mound" is like a pile of something (even poop), are you sure that's the translation ? — Game widow ( talk ) 13:34, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

Hmm. Original Irish term was "aes sídhe", Wikipedia claims that it means "people of the mounds". The sídhe are "hills or earthen mounds that dot the Irish landscape". But, if the English game translation uses "hills", I could use it. — SMiki5five (talk) 16:31, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
I can't say that i've seen the english translation (or if i did, i forgot). I will keep an eye out for it though. — Game widow ( talk ) 22:06, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

Eternal Fire image[]

I'm combing through screenshots right now to see if i can find a nice one. Ideally, i'd like one that fills the section completely. The most recent is definitely a better size though — Game widow ( talk ) 13:24, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

If I only had better hardware, I would take better screenshots than my previous one ;( — SMiki5five (talk) 13:33, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

Goetia[]

I just used the Polish string from the Witcher 3 strings file. — Game widow ( talk ) 20:07, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

Hmm. The term used in Sezon burz and Polish version of The World of the Witcher was "goecja", and it seems to be widespread form in my language. Don't remember though how it was spelled in the game. — SMiki5five (talk) 20:10, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
"c" however is pronounced like "ts" in Polish, and "j" like "y" in "yes", so the pronunciation is similar :) — SMiki5five (talk) 20:13, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
I'm not questioning your spelling, just explaining my source :) — Game widow ( talk ) 20:15, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

Blood and Wine Easter eggs[]

I think we might need to break out just those, there are SO MANY — Game widow ( talk ) 23:51, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

What about the separate "easter eggs" article for them? — SMiki5five (talk) 17:31, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
That's what i meant — Game widow ( talk ) 17:52, 27 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi SMiki, In the Polish version, Tea and Vea has the fair hair? (It is mentioned when they saving Villentretenmerth.) I've checked it and... yes O.o Quite suprising since I always imagine them as middle-easterners.

Neither for me :( I regret I have translated only the part about the Eternal Fire, but I did not expect the site to disappear just after couple of months. I've just tried to contact the authors via Facebook; I hope this is only a technical problem, not some conflict about the copyrights (I remember that before the publication there were some speculations among fans whether the rights belong to the authors or to the publishing house.) — SMiki5five (talk) 16:19, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

Polish[]

In the Polish version, Lyria is also spelt Lyrii (Meve z Lyrii) or Temeria in Temerii (Foltest z Temerii). Why? Grammar?--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 09:59, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

Definitely grammar, see wikipedia:Polish_grammarGame widow ( talk ) 10:52, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
Same thing in Russian. That's just a declension. :) "Declension occurs in many of the world's languages. Among modern languages, declension is an important aspect of Arabic, Finnish, Turkish, Hungarian, many Amerindian languages such as Quechua, Bantu languages such as Zulu, Slavic languages such as Russian and Ukrainian, some Germanic languages such as High German, and some others." — John Miles (talk) 12:22, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
OK, I imagine that it is also the grammar for Iorweth / Iorwetha (komanda Iorwetha). Thanks--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 12:34, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

We translate well Jolantę, Julię, Joannę into English as this : Jolanta, Julia, Joanna ? (MURIEL miała z hrabią Robertem dwoje legalnych dzieci - ADALIĘ, nazywaną później "Wróżką" i syna-pogrobowca, też nazwanego Robertem. Z drugiego małżeństwa (z hrabią de Ruyter) miała trzy córki: Jolantę, Julię i Joannę.)--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 01:07, 3 August 2018 (UTC)

Exactly! :D — SMiki5five (talk) 02:41, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
Ok thanks. One more question. What does "Lotrzyca" ? In the French version, "Muriel Piekna Lotrzyca" was translated into "Muriel la Belle Canaille". "Belle" means : https://pl.wiktionary.org/wiki/belle , "Canaille" means : https://pl.wiktionary.org/wiki/canaille --— Gwynbleidds (talk) 02:57, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
Łotrzyca is female of łotrSMiki5five (talk) 23:10, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. That does not seem to be a so bad translation.--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 00:36, 4 August 2018 (UTC)

In Polish, there are no differences between principality and duchy, it is exact? Or princess and duchess? I ask for that for the characters as Francesca Findabair and Anna Henrietta which are considered as princess as they live in a principality in the French version.--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 13:13, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

True, there is not. In fact, Polish "książę" can have various meanings, including duke, herzog, prince, crown prince etc. — SMiki5five (talk) 17:02, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi SMiki5five, Is that this extract contains spelling mistakes? Próba Traw i inne tajne wiedźmińskie praktyki, własnymi oczyma oglądane--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 17:15, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

No, but a lot of archaisms — SMiki5five (talk) 10:44, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi SMiki5five, How are translated these names? Pomrów, Paszkot and Dzirżygórka. For both first ones, Slug and Mistle ? If wiktionary made a good translation, I imagine that Lord Strept has some preferences concerning these children. x) --— Gwynbleidds (talk) 13:10, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

In German they are quite strange, too: Pomrów=Murmling (someone who mutters), Paszkot=Hekel (Henkel? Häkel?) und Dzirżygórka=Lehnhuck (a (hunch)back to lean on?) and they have rather nothing to do with a tiger slug, a Mistle thrush or anything I can recognize. Most likely some of the neologisms Sapkowski loves to invent. XD — »»Dove«« (talk) 17:28, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

I remember here is a very good article concerning these and other names — SMiki5five (talk) 13:18, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi SMiki5five, the "Y" of "Maridy" is just a declension, no? The genie is called Marid but the Polish pages, the name is "Maridy".--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 15:04, 3 March 2019 (UTC)

Sure, "maridy" is plural — SMiki5five (talk) 19:12, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Ah ok. Thanks.--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 19:28, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
No prob :) — SMiki5five (talk) 19:54, 3 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi SMiki5five, Can you translate this for me?

  1. The Queen's body was desecrated by troops of Gemmeran Pacifiers storming the Cintran castle and was likely burned along the other killed at tremendous piles (of bodies) outside the city walls.
  2. The decision to build the cenotaph met a chilly reception from military circles of Nilfgaard, but redounded an increase in Emperor's popularity among the conquered folk of Cintra.

Ok thanks. Now, I have to find the archaic version of this word in French...--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 23:39, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi SMiki5five, the translation of Wożgorowie into Wozgor is good or not?--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 18:09, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

It's ok. Technically it should be read more like "voshgor"/"vozhgor", but it's not bad. — SMiki5five (talk) 19:00, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks.--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 19:44, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi SMiki5five, Can you translate this for me? : Za jego rządów (tzw. Wojna Siedmioletnia) Temeria opanowała Novigrad i ujście Pontaru, zaś koalicja krajów północnych urwała Redanii żyzne doliny rzek Buiny i Nimnaru.--— Gwynbleidds (talk) 20:22, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

During his reign (in the so called Seven Years' War) Temeria seized Novigrad and the mouth of Pontar, while a coalition of northern countries stripped the fertile river valleys of the Buina and the Nimnar away from Redania. — SMiki5five (talk) 13:27, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

Hey Lore Man :) I was listening to a podcast which dared besmirch this wiki by suggesting that we failed to document anything about the Sacking of Kaer Morhen. I feel we've cited pretty much everything there is on that event, but if you know of any sources we've missed, perhaps you could help us correct this omission — Game widow ( talk ) 22:20, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
Hmm, but it's all there in Kaer Morhen? The only detail "missing" might be the TW1 story about Vesemir being there at the keep and losing consciousness, but it doesn't match book descriptions.
(Unless someone mistook the Tournament from Zdrada for Kaer Morhen Pogrom, but the castle doesn't even appear in the comics lol) — SMiki5five (talk) 19:18, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the sanity check, I feel the same way, but I was less certain. — Game widow ( talk ) 19:29, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
