Thanks, the main issue with the releases is really that it's been so long since Blood Of Elves was released, basically pushing 'Contempt under the radar (book releases themselves are always manic too) but I work in a UK bookshop so if disaster does occur I should know about it before the 27th. First working day of the month & best of news - Gollancz have emailed all Waterstones stores in the UK with this month's releases - &, right at the front of the update, headlining it as it were: Time Of Contempt! - they went on further to state that most Waterstones bookshops will be getting it in stock on thursday 13th (2 weeks before release) - we can finally breath *properly* easy! A bit of news that is, to put it mildly, quite a shock. Gollancz have updated their accounts on Time Of Contempt as is to be expected with the release impending - it's all good except for one little thing which I think hasn't been noticed once - by anyone. The translator is NOT Danusia Stok - it's actually one 'David French' (as you will now be able to see on the Amazon page when you click "look inside"). Don't worry - it won't change the release date and, actually, it may be the reason why looking back - with all the copyright rumours maybe this is how Gollancz got past 'the wranglings'. I would therefore assume that Baptism Of Fire will also be by David French (&, though the novel has been confirmed to have the official translation started the translator hasn't confirmed). - There's certainly a distinct lack of typo's (so far), which is very nice to see. IchibanOfXintra (talk) 16:16, 13 June 2013 (UTC) Oh - one more thing, Orbit were scheduled to update their amazon page mid-week for the US but I'm not sure what happened because Amazon have decided to overwrite the Orbit update by simply copy pasting the Gollancz legal rights on the opening pages - which means Orbit may perk up and do some minor details to their US release page (I'm a bit out of touch with US rights but I'll have a dig and see what I can find). It's a bit of a funny botch but hey. Also, if I can find some time I might try and look at some more locations, probably from a different short story (Lesser evil perhaps)

New template for book quotes[]
I've created a new template called "BookQuote" which should help format any quotes you add. The template itself is here and hopefully sufficiently documented. Do feel free to make any suggestions for improvement or ask any questions. It's based on the template used by the Polish Witcher wiki. So assuming you would more than likely be doing exclusively UK edition quotes, and these days, for Time of Contempt, the typical citation format you should use would be as follows:

In the meantime here's some good news for you - Amazon seem to be acting as haywire as ever but have their editions of 'Contempt in stock now also. It's potentially a programming error but you could get your copy as early as tomorrow: Amazon UK

Italics within the book quotes[]
So i'd been noticing that if i tried italics within the quoted text, it was ignored (bold is fine). So i've found a workaround, but it's slightly counter-intuitive: basically, if you want the italicised text within a quote to be differentiated (i.e. not italicised), then precede it with </i> and close it off with <i> .. which i realize may seem backwards at first glance, but isn't. see the Ars Magica quote for an example. — Game widow (talk) 22:42, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

- Baptism? yeah - it's out in the UK, has been since march (US next month) - and it's certainly the best translation yet. Sorry I haven't been getting much quotes or anything done - I had a dissertation to work on, then a bunch of scripts which still aren't all done yet - real life has just taken over but I'll see what I can do in the next few weeks.

- no, Gollancz actually never release in hardback - Amazon conventionally use 'hardback' 'paperback' etc as what they believe to be the first/second editions - you might want to get a refund on that order and head into a nearby Waterstones or WHSmiths

Welsh/Gaelic[]
You're in the UK, right? :D ... I have NO good reason to ask this, but what the heck? Can you try to find out what "gedymdeith" means ? it's all over ancient welsh literature (one source i've found is Red Book of Hergest but i just can't seem to track down any concordance). - I don't think there is any concordance full stop. In fact I'm not sure it's actually strictly welsh. Wales was one of the 6 kingdoms of celtica however (as far as I know), and the celts really became merged into a bunch of other countries. It might be celtic not welsh, in which case I have no clue - might be worth not looking into welsh but breton instead, maybe norman.
