Joachim de Wett
|Joachim de Wett|
Gwent card art
Joachim de Wett was a Nilfgaardian noble who commanded the Verden Operations Group during the the second Northern War. Duke de Wett led his army poorly and his troops treated Nordling civilians cruelly. He caused an uprising in Verden, where king Ervyll of Verden, who had collaborated with Nilfgaard, was dethroned. He slowed down the offensive during the third phase of invasion, stalling the advance of the Middle Army that contributing to it defeat in the Battle of Brenna.
His daughter, out of many other women, was rejected by emperor Emhyr var Emreis in favour of marrying the false Ciri. In response, he and other nobles formed a conspiracy to overthrow Emhyr and put Morvran Voorhis on the Nilfgaardian throne. Emhyr discovered word of this conspiracy from the group's traitor, Berengar Leuvaarden. Ultimately, de Wett was sentenced to death by Emhyr var Emreis.

- It is possible that the Nilfgaardian Count Roderick de Wett (who appears in the The Witcher computer game) is related to Joachim.
