Ferenc is one of several dwarves who bought a magic firefly which was said to lead to a hidden treasure from a sea captain they met on the road to Novigrad. The firefly took them to the Isle of Mists, where they remained stranded. When Ciri arrived, they took her in.
Ferenc apparently headed west and north towards the coast, in search of a ship that was said to be out there. Geralt spotted him from afar and spoke briefly with him. The dwarf was climbing down to meet the witcher when he fell to his deah.
