Embla is the anabranch of the river Pontar. Until the end of 12th century, it formed the border between Kingdoms of Temeria and Emblonia.

- According to the Norse mythology, Ask and Embla were the first pair of humans created by the gods. It could be speculated that the northern branch is therefore called Ask.
