Im on the step where i should return the ring to the con artist but he isnt at his post, and doesnt seem to go no matter what i do. i tried to go there at night, in the morning, at noon, etc... no con artist. Any known solution? Thanks.

killing the con is murder[]
Maybe it's just the EE version, but when I did it I found a hostile patrol with a watch commander and two guards. Not an easy fight, esp if you aren't prepared. Can someone verify this for a standard version before I add it to the notes? 97.81.77.13 21:31, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
- It's conceivable it changed with EE. what do you mean by patrol? guards? if so, are you sure you didn't kill one or have one "turn red" on your earlier, that will cause this sort of thing to happen, irrespective of the quest / time of day. — Game widow 22:17, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sure; they weren't even in range when I killed the con, but they were red all the way down the street past the Order Post. It was just that group of three, not the other guards they came marching past toward me. When they came near enough to see me, they attacked. I reloaded my save and came up the steps without killing the con, and the same patrol was blue.
- Very interesting. sigh ... i really didn't want to play the game a 31st time ... but i guess i will ;) -- but hey, you know it's perfectly ok to edit the actual page. It's true that i watch every single change made here, and i do sometimes change the information that is added (if i am pretty sure i know better), but i'm only one person and it's entirely possible that some of the stuff i've written only happened because of the way / version i played when i wrote each piece. Bottom line, if you have tested this and are confident the information is correct, then great. From i see here, you have tested and that is all i ask/hope for from contributors. cheers! My chest did not contain "family heirlooms, lots of it" as the article claims, just a ring and a dozen pieces of coin. -- Is this normal? 3ICE (talk) 17:30, August 2, 2012 (UTC)
