Although you can find or loot money in several currencies in the game, including Orens and Florens, the in-game currency is the Crown. So you cannot buy items from merchants with Orens, but you can bring the money to the Vimme Vivaldi at his bank in Novigrad and exchange it for Crowns. The rate of exchange for orens to crowns is one-to-one.

The oren is still the currency in The Witcher 2, which is rather strange given the fact that a good deal of the game takes place in Aedirn, which uses the mark. The Collector's Edition of the game includes a metal replica of a Temerian Oren.

In The Witcher computer game[edit | edit source]

It is variously referred to as money, gold or orens and is the only currency used in the game, unless you count gifts and alcohol.
